{"id":8279,"date":"2020-04-14T03:43:58","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T03:43:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.dlm-ag.ch\/?page_id=8279"},"modified":"2020-08-27T13:58:01","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T11:58:01","slug":"steam-engines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dlm-ag.ch\/en\/steam-engines\/","title":{"rendered":"Steam engines"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>\n\t\tNew steam engines for paddle steamers and screw ships\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Dampfschiffe, vor allem Raddampfer, erfreuen sich grosser Beliebtheit. &#8222;Ein Verkehrsmittel, das nur Freunde hat&#8220; titelte eine bekannte Z\u00fcrcher Tageszeitung einen ausf\u00fchrlichen Artikel zur weltweiten Popularit\u00e4t der Dampfschiffe. Das ausserordentlich sch\u00f6ne Erscheinungsbild der klassischen Raddampfer, die eleganten Salons im Innern, das ruhige Gleiten \u00fcber das Wasser, der sichtbare Antrieb mit der ihm eigenen Dynamik und ein gutes gastronomisches Angebot machen die Ausfl\u00fcge mit Dampfschiffen zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Wegen des altersbedingt h\u00f6heren Personalbedarfs hat man in den 50-er und 60-er Jahren zahlreiche stolze Dampfer verschrottet und durch seelenlose Motorschiffe ersetzt. Gerade noch rechtzeitig konnten dank privaten Initiativen einige Raddampfer gerettet und wieder instandgesetzt werden. F\u00fcr die weitere Nachfrage und aus wirtschaftlichen Gr\u00fcnden wird es nun notwendig sein, die vorhandenen Dampfer sanft zu modernisieren, um die altersbedingten Mehrkosten zu reduzieren. Automatische Kessel sind in der Industrie l\u00e4ngst Stand der Technik und werden zunehmend auch auf Dampfschiffen zum Standart. Dass auch fernbediente Dampfmaschinen m\u00f6glich sind, haben wir mit der Revaporisierung des diesel-elektrischen Radschiffes &#8222;Montreux&#8220; auf dem Genfersee gezeigt. Mit heutiger Technik sind somit Dampfschiffe m\u00f6glich, die nicht mehr Personal ben\u00f6tigen als vergleichbare Motorschiffe.<\/p>\n<p>Die moderne Dampftechnik bietet im weitern einige M\u00f6glichkeiten, welche den Motorschiffen versagt ist. Dampf kann mit jeder beliebigen Energieform erzeugt werden, sodass auch CO2-neutrale Brennstoffe verwendet werden k\u00f6nnen. Zur Zeit projektieren wir einen neuen Raddampfer f\u00fcr den Hochrhein (Schaffhausen &#8211; Konstanz), der mit einer CO2-neutralen Pelletsfeuerung ausger\u00fcstet werden soll.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of sustainability, steam engines with a service life of 100 to 150 years (without any loss of performance!) cannot be topped. Today's diesel engines are often replaced on ships after only 10 years. Steam engines are also exemplary in terms of noise. Even at full load they work so quietly that the paddle steamers have open galleries from which passengers can watch the fascinating technology.
