Overhaul of 52 8055 completed

The overhaul of DLM's modern steam locomotive 52 8055 was actually completed by the end of May 2025, less the train-guard system. Its repair by external companies progressed real slow, so that another locomotive with a certified train-guard system was necessary for the return journey of 52 8055 to its home shed at Schaffhausen on 26 May 2025, see earlier news. Now, several months and several electrical companies later, the ETM-S train-guard system was tested and certified on Friday, October 17, 2025, so that additional engines are no longer required. On Sunday, October 19, 52 8055 speeded light engine from Schaffhausen to Etzwilen, from where three return trips into the German town of Singen were done. The three carriages were not a real challenge for the powerful 52 8055. A lot of steam was used to operate the 52 8055's South-African and Chinese chime whistles, as there are quite a few road crossings on this line. Most unusual is the crossing of a roundabout near Singen, surprising many a car driver.
A beautiful video of the journey can be found on YouTube, uploaded by user ‘Dampf im Südwesten’ (Steam in the Southwest):
